Automotive stamping parts are a production technology that uses the power of conventional or special stamping equipment to directly subject the sheet to deformation forces and deform in the mold, thereby obtaining product parts of a certain shape, size and performance. Sheet materials, molds and equipment are the three elements of stamping processing. Stamping is a metal cold deformation processing method. Therefore, it is called cold stamping or sheet metal stamping, or stamping for short. It is one of the main methods of metal plastic processing (or pressure processing), and also belongs to material forming engineering technology.

50~60% of the world's steel is made of plates, most of which are stamped products. Car bodies, radiator fins, boiler drums, container casings, motors, electrical appliances, iron core silicon steel sheets, etc. are generally stamped. There are also a large number of products such as instruments and meters, household appliances, office machines, and storage utensils.

Stamping is an efficient tool for mold preparation. It adopts composite dies, especially multi-station progressive dies, which can complete multiple stamping operations on one press and realize automatic production of materials. The production speed is fast, the rest time is long, the processing cost is low, and the collective can process hundreds of pieces per minute, so it is loved by many processing plants.

Compared with castings and forgings, stamping parts have the characteristics of thin, uniform, light and strong. Stamping can produce workpieces with reinforced ribs, ribs, twists or flanges that are difficult to produce with this familiar method to improve their rigidity. Due to the elimination of rough molds, the accuracy of the workpiece can reach micron level, with high precision and consistent specifications, and holes, bosses, etc. can be punched out. In actual production, process tests similar to the stamping process, such as drawing performance tests, bulging performance tests, etc., are commonly used to test the stamping performance of materials to ensure the quality of finished products and a high pass rate.
